ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

Once again the book owes much of its good looks to Tom Mulvaney, coin photographer extraordinaire, and my son John, a layout pro. Tom shot almost all the photographs. John, who operates his own desktop publishing loudness, completely designed and laid out the book.

The book was enhanced by information from Larry Briggs, Walter Breen, David Lange and my highly capable “research staff” of Phil Carrigan and Steve Epstein. Greg Reff of Gemini Numismatics Inc. kindly lent us the 1900-S branch mint proof/specimen, and a North Carolina collector who wishes to remain anonymous did the same with a similar 1906-D. Another collector from the Mid West drove several hundred miles to Tom’s studio with the coins we needed to complete the date set photographs.

Thanks also to the following organizations for allowing excerpts from their published material: Whitman Publishing Co. – “A Guide Book of United States Coins” by R.S. Yeoman. 1st and 44th editions; Numismatic Guaranty Corp. for the NGC Census; Professional Coin Grading Service for the PCGS Population Report: ANACS for the ANACS Population Report; and CDN Inc. for the Coin Dealer Newsletter Monthly Summary, Coin Dealer Newsletter, and Certified Coin Dealer Newsletter.

The 1892-P variety pictures were provided by J.T. Stanton. the photo of Charles Barber, by R.W. Julian, the Barber Half pattern photos by Charles Rand of the Smithsonian and the photo of the author; by Paul Gilkes of Coin World.
