* * *
Mintage: 1,029,028 (Ranking 22/73).
Varieties: A Micro-S, similar to that of the Micro-O, is supposed to exist, but this has to be confirmed. It was listed in Taxay (1971) among other places, but evidently not known in 1929 (not listed in Beistle).
Scarcity: Tough to find in full rimmed G to VF+. Available in XF and overrated in AU and MS.
Rarity Rating: G-VG R3, F R4, VF R5, XF-AU R3, MS R2
Total PCGS/NGC = 54 (Ranking 40/73).
Comments: Perhaps 95% of this date exist as G/AG (G obverse, AG reverse). This is typical of most Barber Halves before 1898. Also, these same dates tend to have much stronger obverses than reverses so that it is not unusual to find almost VG detail on the front of coins that lack full reverse rims. High grade coins are generally well struck with nice luster.
