Mintage

Business strikes: 1,230,000

Varieties: Four similar mint mark positions identified in the First Edition. No RPM’s or RPD’s known.

Scarcity: One of my favorite dates. Not quite as scarce as the 1901-0,1908-S or 1909-0, but on everyone’s want list just the same.

Rarity Ratings: G/VG R2; F/VF R4; EF/AU R5; MS R5.

Ranking: 16th in mintage, tied for 15th in certified population (44 coins), tied for 15th in MS63 PI and tied for 45th in Gem PI.

Comments: Comes with a satiny luster and moderate 0-mint strike. As of March 1994, a total five MS65 and four MS66 gems have been certified and some of these have beautiful toning. But most of the lower grade uncs seem to be lackluster. The most underrated date in the set; undervalued in all grades except gem condition.

This coin has such demand that even coins with light scratches, rim bumps or other minor problems sell for full price or higher.
