We arrived in Philadelphia on Friday evening in preparation for an 8am set-up time on Saturday. While the 2 extra days of the PNG/Pre-ANA seem a bit unnecessary, it was clearly worth attending. From the Saturday opening of the doors until 6:30, we were busy buying and selling coins. In fact, security had to kick us out as we were supposed to leave at 6.
All of the major dealers were in attendance for the PNG show and while everyone speaks of “nice” coins not being around, there seem to be many opportunities abounding at this show. If you’re not beating the tables of every dealer, you’re not going to find the best coins. In our 2 days so far we’ve bought everything from a $5 battery-powered fan, a $25 Barber Quarter, to a few beautiful $25,000 Morgan Dollars. We also brought along a record number of coins with us to the show so that we wouldn’t run out of coins to sell!
The doors swing open tomorrow at 9 and set-up begins for those that did not take a table at the pre-show. PNG invited guests are still welcome in the morning and we’d love to see you at our table (#1016) at any time during the next week. Also, remember to follow us (David Lawrence Rare Coins) on Twitter @DavidLawrenceRC and you can see our show comments in realtime. We may discuss the temperature and humidity level of the bourse floor or share a picture of our favorite new coins, but we will always try to be entertaining and informative!
