The Picky Collection Goes Wild

DLRC Auctions sells the Picky Collection of Bust half dollars and more

Results from last night’s sale of the “Picky Collection” were superb. The collection which large consisted of Bust half dollars, was assembled over the past decade by a very astute collector of these coins and was superb in quality.

The folks at CAC (Certified Acceptance Corp) have shared some information about submissions and acceptance percentages with us. CAC started their services in 2007.

Coins Submitted: 144,137

Insurance Value of Coins Submitted: $ 801,093,163.

Green stickers issued: 68,034

Gold stickers issued: 296

Wholesale Trading Volume: $139,000,000

National Gold Exchange Files for Chapter 11

In an unfortunate turn of events, National Gold Exchange (NGE) has filed for bankruptcy protection, as reported by the St. Petersburg Times. Apparently, their primary creditor (Sovereign bank, in Boston) is claiming that the company misused collateral and has been bouncing checks lately. This is the public news of the event.

Smokin’ Smoky Mountains Collection of DGS coins…

Last night, we closed Auction #328 which featured (among other great coins) the Smoky Mountains Collection of coins. These coins were submitted to DGS by a long-time collector and client of David Lawrence Rare Coins. In total, we sold approximately 367 DGS coins for 50% over the amount we guaranteed the client. Over 120 different bidders were successful. In total the auction realized an eye-popping $230,000!
