Coins We Love: National Coin Shortage Continues

Coins We Love: National Coin Shortage Continues

As you might have seen, we are once again honored to showcase a few more of the duplicates (or triplicates or quadruplicates) from the D.L. Hansen Collection, starting with this Sunday night’s auction. While we haven’t been able to make any trips to work on the collection in the past few months, these are pieces that we’ve actually had for a while, but were waiting on the right timing to offer. As you’ll notice, we have over 80 ending this week with another 40 or so that just started and will end on August 2nd. While the quantities are not huge, the coins are all quite lovely and encompass a wide variety of series and design types. We hope that you'll enjoy this offering and we look forward to auctioning more of these in the near future.

Also of interest this week, is the national coin shortage that you may have read about in your local news. It appears that banks and businesses are running into supply issues from the past few months as the production was reduced during the early months of the pandemic and the distribution channels haven’t been able to keep up with the need. You may want to keep your eyes open as some banks have been offering premiums for change and if you have any statehood quarters left over from the run a few years ago, it might be worth a trip to the bank. Unfortunately for us, our bank still doesn’t really want the coins, so we’ll hold on to our collections of Statehood Quarters and Presidential Dollars until the timing is better for us! Of course, if you have a personal need for statehood quarters and are up for a roadtrip to Virginia Beach, by all means give me a call!

Elsewhere in the office, we continue to enjoy our time off the road and have been pleasantly surprised that our call for more coins has been answered. We’re continuing to receive record numbers of packages from collectors just like you and whether they’ve chosen the outright sale, auction, or consignment route, we’ve had exceptionally positive results. I’ll spare you from another plea (if you subscribe to multiple dealers’ newsletters, I’m sure you’re tired of hearing it!), but please continue to keep us in mind. Just know that although we might not be traveling, we’re definitely not resting. There are always new coins to figure, more collections to find, and internal operations we can continue to improve. We will keep doing our best to serve you, whether in buying, selling, auctioning, or trading. And if there’s anything that we’re not offering you that you think we should, please don’t hesitate to let us know! We’re here to serve you and your collection and we’re honored to be your partner in collecting.

Numismatically Yours,
John Brush and Your Friends at DLRC
