Auction #1062 Lots Posted. Browse & Bid Now!

Our Sunday Internet Auction #1062 includes a selection over 375 New Items with a pair of fantastic collections. The sale is highlighted by the Prestige Collection of 19th Century Type and the Cavalier Collection of $5 Indian Gold, two fresh offerings straight out of the numismatic woodwork, along with 75 No Reserve lots and 30 Vault Value items.

The Prestige Collection of 19th Century Type is one of the most interesting collections we’ve had the opportunity to handle in years. Consisting of various issues from the mid-19th Century with several extremely scarce dates and various high quality pieces, these coins are fresh from PCGS where they were recently graded as uncertified coins. While not all of the examples received the coveted CAC seal of approval, we think that all of these coins are of the utmost quality and should be considered as a highlight acquisition for almost any collection!

The Cavalier Collection of $5 Indian Gold comes to us from a coin shop in the Midwest that was able to purchase the collection intact from a long-time collector. We were fortunate enough to have a relationship with this store, and they offered the set to us as soon as it walked in the front door. Lovely, fresh, and painstakingly put together, this grouping is one of the nicest overall sets as far as quality and eye appeal that we’ve seen in quite some time. While $5 Indians have certainly been aggressively pursued until several years ago, they have reached levels for the past 2-3 years that make this seem like the perfect opportunity to acquire a few pieces in hopes of future returns and for current enjoyment!

All lots will begin closing at 8pm EST on Sunday, April 28th. Some of the more interesting highlights from this week's sale include:

Our first highlight coin is an 1877 20c PCGS Proof 65. A rare proof-only issue with gorgeous eye appeal. The key proof issue displays beautiful orange central highlights with blue and magenta rim tones surrounding the near Cameo fields. The reverse is absolutely amazing with rose, blue, and golden highlights throughout. This piece comes from a mintage of only 350 coins.

This week's second highlight is an 1878 20c PCGS/CAC Proof 65+. A scarce proof-only 20-cent piece issue with stunningly original surfaces; there were only 600 coins struck in total for this date making the 1878 quite desirable among collectors.

The third highlight is an 1859-O 25c PCGS MS65. Coming from a mintage of 260,000 pieces only a single example is graded finer by PCGS. Lovely lilac and blue tints surrounding the rose centers highlight this piece. In comparison to other similarly graded examples, this piece displays far more eye appeal and is perfectly original in appearance.

Our fourth highlight coin is a 1901 50c PCGS/CAC Proof 67+ CAM. This registry quality item has beautiful mirrors and fantastic eye appeal. Coming from a mintage of 813 coins struck in proof format, this piece is CAC and PCGS+ grade approved!

The fifth highlight is a 1909-O $5 PCGS MS62. The 1909-O is by far the lowest mintage coin in the series with only 34,200 struck. It is also quite popular as the only New Orleans issue in the entire set. This particular coin sure looks like an MS63 with clean, mark-free surfaces.

Our sixth highlight coin is a 1911-D $5 PCGS MS62. The 1911-D is one of the key dates in the Indian half-eagle set.

The final highlight is a 1929 $5 NGC/CAC MS63. This piece is a fresh, key date with fantastic surfaces.

Of course there are many other highlights, so be sure to browse all lots in this exciting new sale before it closes on Sunday, April 28th.
