Our apologies for the delay in getting the weekly CWL message to everyone. We were attending the Central States Show in Schaumburg, Illinois this week and have had our hands pretty busy serving collectors at the show. Overall, the show was fair. The attendance of these gatherings has declined in recent years, I would suspect due to the location, but we were able to make the most of it and were very satisfied with the business that we did transact. Thankfully, the facilities and host hotel are fantastic and convenient to each other, which makes things go pretty smoothly for us. We’ll have a large group of new coins coming up over the next few weeks as a result of the show and several collections that we’ve had the pleasure to buy in recent weeks. All of that being said, this week’s message is a rather short one, but we’ll be back with more next week, and we hope that you enjoy this week’s installment of the Coins We Love.

Why we love it: This popular Civil War Era San Francisco Mint issued gold piece shines with outstanding luster and phenomenal overall eye appeal. The finest graded example by PCGS, this coin is fresh to the market and is sure to attract many interested bidders. With the increasing popularity of the $10 Liberty series in recent months, this is a rare opportunity to improve any PCGS Registry set!
Value: The PCGS Price Guide has this coin rather arbitrarily valued at $45,000. Unfortunately, as no other examples in this range have ever sold, there’s not a great guideline to reference. However, with a reserve of just $45,500 in this week’s auction, we view it as an incredible opportunity for the collector/investor.
Why we love it: A gorgeous ultra-gem example of this slightly better date Saint Gaudens Double Eagle that becomes even more difficult in high grades. Beautiful luster and minimal number of blemishes give this high-end Saint type coin premium eye appeal. There is only one example of this high-grade, scarcer issue graded finer across all grading services.
Value: The PCGS Price Guide reflects a value of $19,000; however, it is available in this week’s auction with the reserve set at the astonishingly low amount of just $9,500.
Why we love it: This scarce and quite popular overdate Mercury Dime variety displays beautiful luster, giving this coin incredible eye appeal. These almost completely blemish-free surfaces are bright white with a pretty, subtle golden tint. The coin was recognized by both PCGS and CAC for being such excessively high quality for the grade by the plus grade and CAC sticker respectively.
Value: The PCGS Price Guide has this coin valued at $12,500 and nearly triples in value in the grade higher. It is available in this week’s auction reserved at $12,750. This popular overdate that has CAC approval for being so incredibly high-end for the assigned grade and would add nearly another $20,000 in value if it were just one grade higher is an excellent buying opportunity.
Why we love it: A popular Carson City Mint Issue Morgan Dollar that is especially desirable in high-end gem condition with the proof-like designation. This flashy, immaculate ultra-gem example features pristine, bright white surfaces with no visible blemishes that make for stunning eye appeal. This proof-like CC-Mint Morgan is tied for the finest known in existence graded by NGC.
Value: The PCGS Price Guide reflects a price of $12,500. We are offering this nearly perfect proof-like example for outright sale for a very low price of $7,000 through our Make Offer function.
Why we love it: A popular, much better date Carson City Mint Issue Morgan Dollar that is especially scarce in high-end gem condition. This stunning ultra-gem example features blazing luster with pristine, blast white surfaces that make for nearly perfect eye appeal for the issue. This incredible example of this much scarcer CC-Mint Issue Morgan is tied for the finest known in existence graded by NGC.
Value: The CPG lists the value of this conditionally scarce issue at $17,300 with the PCGS Price Guide at $17,500. While both prices seem a bit aggressive in our eyes, we see that our price of just $12,000 via Make Offer is a nice value. Tied for finest known at NGC, we this stunning ultra-gem example is an excellent opportunity and won’t be available for long!
Why we love it: This gorgeous coin, known as America’s Most Beautiful Coin, is greatly desired among all collectors. This slightly more affordable, nearly uncirculated example has attractive surfaces and color that, combined with its fantastic design, make for stunning eye appeal. The tremendous eye appeal of this coin was recognized by CAC as they approved it as a high-end example of the AU58 grade it earned from NGC.
Value: PCGS Price Guide reflects a value of $15,500. Our beautiful and more affordable example of America’s Most Beautiful Coin with CAC approval is available on our website for just $14,250 through our Make Offer function.
Why we love it: A richly, deeply toned example of this scarce Carson City Mint Issue Liberty Seated Half Dollar that displays stunning underlying luster and intriguing eye appeal. This Rare No Arrows Seated Half Issue comes from a much lower, original mintage of just 122,500 coins struck in which only three are graded finer by NGC.

Why we love it: A stunning, well-struck gem example of this popular and tough Type 2 San Francisco Mint Issue Buffalo Nickel that displays plenty of strong luster and a pretty, yet subtle hue of toning on the obverse. There are only five other examples in existence that were graded finer by PCGS.
Value: The PCGS Price Guide has this coin valued at $4,500 in MS66 and skyrockets in value to $35,000 in MS67. This example that is high-end for its assigned grade as shown by its CAC approval is available for purchase at the reasonable price of just $5,500 via Make Offer!
Why we love it: A famous, highly desired key date whose rarity and popularity transcends the Mercury Dime series. This example is high-end for the assigned grade and features lightly, evenly worn and completely original surfaces. This incredibly popular and rare issue comes from a smaller, original mintage of just 264,000 coins struck making it the lowest in the entire series.
Value: This example that is high-end for its assigned grade as shown by its CAC approval is available for purchase at the reasonable price of just $7,250 via Make Offer.
Why we love it: A mostly bright white, lustrous example of this rare San Francisco Mint Issue Barber Half Dollar that displays an attractive rose-colored toning around the rim. This Key Date Barber Half Dollar comes from a low, original mintage for the issue of just 553,038 coins struck.
Value: PCGS Price Guide has this coin valued at $21,000, but we have it available in this week’s auction with the reserve set at the reasonable amount of just $18,500. That is $2,500 below the PCGS Price Guide value for this beautiful example of this scarce Barber Half even with CAC approval!
Why we love it: This attractive yet affordable near-gem type coin from the Braided Hair Half Cent series displays pristine surfaces that are nearly completely without any blemishes. This pretty, chocolate brown Half Cent features nice eye appeal with its uninterrupted, sharply detailed devices and clear, original fields.
Value: The PCGS Price Guide has this coin valued at $650, and the CPG stands at $594. Available for just $525 via Make Offer as part of our CWL special. This is a great price at $125 below the PCGS Price Guide for this attractive yet affordable near-gem Half Cent type coin!

This piece displays well-struck, pristine surfaces that are covered with pretty, light toning and incredible amounts of stunning luster.
