Coins We Love: Happy Father's Day! Buy Yourself a Coin from DLRC!

Happy Father's Day weekend! If you haven't picked up a gift for Dad just yet, don't worry—there's still time! Whether he's a lifelong collector, a history buff, or simply appreciates something unique, a great coin can make for a memorable Father's Day gift. And if you're spending the weekend with family, we hope you get the chance to relax, make some memories, and maybe even talk a little about coins along the way!

This past month has, quite literally, been the busiest work season ever! Between hiring and training a new marketing specialist, scheduled time off, working on multiple large deals, and nonstop travel, we have had our hands full. All of this culminated with Jack and myself (Andy Jeffrey) picking up two deals in two weeks… RIGHT before the Baltimore Show!

Our First Deal:

A great, longtime customer reached out to us, ready to sell his collection. We spent weeks figuring, planning and booking travel, getting ready for this Midwest whirlwind trip! We flew into Saint Louis very late on a Sunday night, but that didn’t stop us from getting an early start the following morning. We spent all day Monday reviewing the coins, tweaking our list, and negotiating the offer. In the end, we closed the deal on the collection and have a ton of great items coming up for auction. Tuesday and Wednesday were spent driving to Chicago, selling off portions, shipping stuff home, and just generally organizing this massive deal (it was two suitcases and eight large boxes). I flew home on Wednesday and Jack caught a ride straight to the Cincinnati Show. It was a crazy, busy trip, jam-packed with early mornings, late nights, and lots of coins!

We were back in the office barely a day when we got a call from another longtime customer looking to sell coins! Admittedly, the timing wasn’t ideal, but he's located relatively close to Baltimore so we were able to make it work.

Our Second Deal:

Jack and I got up around 5am Tuesday, well before the sun, and started the six-and-a-half hour drive, ending up pretty close to NYC at 1pm. On arrival, we hit the ground running, making offers and sifting through albums of raw type coins. In our short four-and-a-half hours there, we bought several graded key dates, a handful of nice raw coins, a box of mint and proof sets, and secured roughly 25 coins for consignment (including some truly impressive pieces). A successful and worthwhile detour! We were running on adrenaline at this point, which was good because we had a three hour drive to Baltimore. We arrived at 8:30 PM and were SO excited to check in to our hotel and sleep. I don’t know about Jack, but I slept like a rock.

Wednesday through Friday were spent at the Baltimore Show, buying and selling! Again, we picked up some cool pieces that will be great for our upcoming auctions. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the highlights of these three events, which included Casey’s Pizza (IYKYK), a lovely America 250 display over Philly, a backroad detour, and JB in a wheelchair at the Baltimore show (sprained ankle, courtesy of Baltimore City sidewalks). While the past few weeks have been a fun tornado of coins and travel, I am thrilled to be back home with nothing on the immediate horizon.

But, if you have a collection you are looking to sell or consign, please reach out! We love coins and would be more than happy to assist you with your set. Depending on the value, we may be able to come to you, AND your collection could qualify to be an exclusive standalone auction. You never know if you never ask, so drop us a line NOW!

Numismatically Yours,

Andy Jeffrey
