Coins We Love: Happy New Year!

Happy Holidays Everyone!

We hope that each of you are enjoying some of the quickly approaching winter weather and time with family or friends during this holiday season. The office has been running with limited staffing during the holidays as we have a number of folks out of town with family, etc but we’re doing our best to keep things moving along. I’ve had the pleasure of being in the office most of the past two weeks as we’re closing out the calendar year financially, but we’ve also been preparing for one of the two most important shows of the year that we have starting next week. With the FUN Show immediately around the corner this year, several of us travel down as the New Year dawns and we’ll be set up and ready to go Wednesday-Saturday next week. If you have any last minute requests on coins you’d like us to bring along, please don’t hesitate to shoot us an email at coins@davidlawrence.com and we’ll do our best to get it there!

As far as what the new year holds for us, we’re thrilled to be done with 2023. It was a good year, but we’ve been preparing several things for 2024 and we’re excited to start running with them. We’ll be launching a new logo in the coming week, we’ll have a new regular auction event starting in the coming weeks, and a record number of consignments that we’ll be offering over the next few months. All in all, we have our hands full and we can’t wait!

While we’re packing everything this week and re-pricing coins, we invite you to make offers on anything on the website that you see that’s of interest. With all of the new material coming in, we’ve all of a sudden gotten a little more aggressive price-wise, so it’s a good time to revisit some of those pieces that you’ve been thinking about…especially before the page turns on the calendar.

Lastly, I’ll conclude with a brief numismatic holiday story. Coins aren’t often stocking stuffers. My parents tried a few times and I remember receiving an 1883 With Cents Nickel that was AU when I was about 10 or 11. Honestly, I’m not sure why they picked that coin (I collected Buffalo Nickels), but it was the thought that counts. I came across that coin recently and it sparked a plethora of memories. However, this year my oldest purchased a coin from us to give to his grandfather. My father-in-law had always wanted a silver dollar from 1920 (the year his father was born). Unfortunately that’s more elusive than a 1964 Peace Dollar, but Wes searched for and found a half dollar that ended up getting wrapped for Christmas day. It wasn’t the biggest present of the day, but it sure was one that sparked a lot of memories and one that we won’t forget soon.

Thanks again for reading! We appreciate your working with us and please don’t hesitate to let us know if we’ll be seeing you in Orlando! We’ll look forward to it!

Numismatically Yours,

John and Your Friends at DLRC
