Coins We Love: On to Baltimore
We’ve made it to our home away from home, Baltimore, Maryland for the annual Fall/Winter Whitman Expo. The trip up here was uneventful for once, but we had a late start due to the avalanche of coins that have fallen our way this week. This was a wonderful problem and we broke our trip up a little bit to make sure we got everything “through the system”! One thing to brag about is that we pumped out over 800 coins with photos this week from our photography staff and that’s not even counting the videos that we’ve been adding to the website on a daily basis. Overall, our photography staff has really stepped up their game this week and are keeping us on our toes!
So, now it’s time to buy some coins in Baltimore so we can keep that team fed!
The early reports from the first day of buying are that there are fewer “fresh” coins out there than we’ve seen at the most recent shows, but this is probably due to the fact that we’ve had so many shows in the last month. As this is the last major event for the DLRC-buying year, we’re hoping that we run into a few fresh deals while we’re here to hold us over until January. Of course, our work is never done because we have some smaller events that will pop up and all of the items that get sent to us in the mail. But, as far as big retail events, this is it. And it promises to end the year strong.
Instead of the usual trading room to open the first day of Baltimore, we’re trying out a PNG Day event to kick off, which brings all of the top-rated dealers under one roof for one day of trading before collectors hit the floor. This is often one of our most exciting and active days as we let our guard down a little and just try to strike up some deals. As for the PNG, we’re hoping that this event is a jumpstart for something good in the future.
Thursday and Friday we’ll be full-on set up at the front of the room as usual, so if you’re in the area, stop by. Otherwise we’ll be reporting on our social media pages with some of the exciting things that occur this week. So, stay tuned to Instagram and Facebook and you may see some fun things pop up along the way.
Thanks again for reading this week’s Coins We Love and we hope that you enjoy the selections for this week!
Numismatically Yours,
