Coins We Love: Roll That Beautiful Coin Footage!

Coins We Love: Roll That Beautiful Coin Footage!

I can honestly say that I don’t think that we’ve ever had so many coins come our way here at DLRC. Maybe we have had more in quantity at some point, but as far as quality goes, this is a unique time. As some of you may have seen, we announced the release of select coins from the D.L. Hansen Collection this week that are now part of our Red Carpet Rarities auctions. On top of that, we just brought home a fantastic type set that will be coming up for auction, a wide variety of high-quality eye-appealing 20th Century pieces, a deal of shipwreck coins, and 20 AU/BU rolls of Morgan and Peace Dollars. So, while the expensive coins get most of the publicity, we still get as excited about a raw dollar deal as we do the 6 figure coins. It’s all a part of the formula that makes DLRC who it is.

The Red Carpet Rarities Sale of Helen’s Quarter Collection is still moving along with some fantastic opportunities on some scarce underrated dates. We've already seen some record results for coins that were quite unexpected. It just goes to show you that quality and rarity are the two most important pieces of the puzzle, but sometimes it’s also about finding the right coin to fit into a collection. As we’ve seen from the bidding, the collectors are the ones who rule the marketplace. Dealers are still active, but building great collections and getting them in the hands of collectors is really what is exciting and brings the best results on both sides of the equation.

The good news is that even though we have collections coming in from across the map, our turnaround time is still the same. If you get us a group of coins by Wednesday, they can be in our regular Sunday auctions starting on Friday. We had to bring on a few extra people this year to keep up with the demand and our expectations of ourselves. But there’s no reason that collectors should have to wait a month to get coins selling and no reason the process should take so long in this internet-based world we now live in. So, keep it coming. We appreciate your trust in us!

This week we not only went through our regular motions, but we also created some video reels of some upcoming auction highlights and a draft of a video tour of our office we’ll share in a few weeks. It was a little nerve-wracking to re-live the early days of MTV’s Cribs and show off our office, but it was a fun little thing that we thought some folks might like to see! So, stay tuned.

Next week you’ll find us at the ANA’s National Money Show in the fantastic Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colorado. If you’ll be there, please let us know if there’s anything on our website you’d like to see, and stop by to see John, Andy, and Amandeep on Thursday or Friday. The following week we’ll be in Baltimore for the Spring Whitman Show at our normal spot, so if you want to beat us to the punch for that event, shoot us an email at coins@davidlawrence.com and we’ll get the coins packed up for the field trip up north.

Numismatically Yours,

John Brush
