Coins We Love: Target Acquired and Bounty Awarded!

Coins We Love: Target Acquired and Bounty Awarded!

Sometimes the DLRC Office feels like an episode of “Where’s Waldo?” in real time. This week Jack is off to the World Money Fair in Berlin, JB and Wes are on their way to DC for a special event that we’ll discuss more in next week’s message, Andy is broadcasting about a coin bounty, JC made it out of an ice storm in Williamsburg, and the rest of the office is pushing coins through imaging, descriptions, and into auction like there’s no tomorrow. You may think that the price of silver and gold is pushing things at record speeds, but so are rare coins. Right now, I don’t want to jinx it, but the market may be hotter than it was during the middle of the pandemic, when no one could find or source coins before they were already sold. In all honesty, coins are selling as quickly as they are presented, and we’re not just talking about bullion. Yes, bullion is ridiculous right now, and it’s a wonderful time to trade in it, but if you’re asking me if you should buy or sell, my answer is “I have no idea.” We’re not holding it, and while it might not be the most sound long-term play, it’s where we stand, as we’d rather just keep it moving. That being said, it’s keeping us incredibly busy… And that’s a great thing!

The rest of this week’s CWL highlights two exciting pieces of news at DLRC, so we hope that you can celebrate with us and join the hunt for the two missing coins!

Target Acquired and Bounty Rewarded!

He didn’t win a game show or last week’s Powerball, but Caden Dore stood proudly nevertheless, holding an oversized check for $5,000! Back in August 2025, we posted a bounty on three Proof Silver Dollars on behalf of the D.L. Hansen Collection. The three coins—dated 1801, 1841, and 1848—are the lone missing pieces from the Proof Silver Dollar Collection. After a protracted search of more than 6 years, the first of the three pieces has been tracked down!

At the recent FUN Show in Orlando, Florida, Caden was rewarded with the bounty after DLRC successfully acquired the 1848 Seated Dollar, graded by PCGS as Proof 62. The coin now resides in the D.L. Hansen Collection, and Mr. Dore traveled home $5,000 richer!

While the 1848 Proof Dollar has been apprehended, the 1801 and 1841 are still on the loose. Anyone able to locate an example graded or stickered by CAC can still take advantage of the offer and claim the next $5,000 bounty upon DLRC’s acquisition. Contact us with any information regarding these two coins by emailing coins@davidlawrence.com.

The Vive La Révolution Collection:

Another exciting event at DLRC is an upcoming auction featuring a fascinating array of European Medals! An impressive collection of British, French, and German medals spanning from the 17th to the 19th century, these medals were struck using some of the best technology at the time, an artifact reflected by the high relief designs and phenomenal technical details. The historical significance of these medals goes beyond just a piece of metal you can hold in your hands; these commemorate real events in history, 250+ years ago - everything from Royal events, major and notable battles, and important people at the time. Many of these pieces were produced to celebrate moments that shaped nations and empires. This set is coming soon to a Red Carpet Rarities auction!

Numismatically Yours,

John Brush
