Coins We Love: Time to Rest
The past few weeks have been a real blur. The run of recent shows wore us down quite a bit! The final event of the stretch was the Whitman Baltimore Show last week, and it was another active event that produced quite well for us.
This show included a lot of changes as the layout was redone, the location for this single show was different, and there was a book convention taking over the hotels and convention halls that we’re used to frequenting. Overall, it was a little bit familiar, but a lot of adjustments and flexibility were needed. In the end, it went fine.
There was an active bourse until about 2 pm on Friday. We bought what we were looking for and we sold a few coins here and there. Do I wish the show were in another city? Yes, I’m getting there. As the downtown areas age and are less active in major cities, it becomes less interesting to be there (and a little uncomfortable). But we did fine. We found the restaurants, we found some backup hotels for the week, and overall, we had a successful event. There wasn’t a lot to write home about that was truly exciting. I think that most of the major dealers had attended two shows in three weeks, so we were all a bit tired. But we pushed through for some numismatic treasure hunting on the bourse and came away with a few small nuggets, but no true bonanza.
I can say that we’re glad to be home this week. And we have quite a long break before the next major show, the Central States Numismatic Society show in Schaumburg, IL. Between now and then, we have a few exciting Red Carpet Rarities Auctions to launch, some highlights from Savannah and Baltimore, and our typical numismatic additions that pop up every once in a while.
We’ll get some rest before we start back, but hopefully you can find something interesting in this week’s coin highlights. We hope to get the opportunity to work with you on one side of the table or the other!
