Coins We Love: Coins, Pizza & Chaos going LIVE!

What the Heck are We Thinking???

The excitement and exuberance of youth are often missing from numismatics. It is sometimes called the Hobby of Kings, but does that mean it should be unobtainable, gatekept or “royal”? Absolutely not. Part of the enjoyment of what we do is seeing the excitement that comes from the hobby, whether that’s finding the perfect coin to complete a set, the enjoyment of observing a beautiful coin, or just the fun in discovering something new! Of course, for us it can also be in trying new things to interact with collectors.

So, next Wednesday we’re going to take the plunge into the world of livestream selling. What does that mean? It means that you’ll find Wes, Max, and some special guests joining us on WhatNot for some live interactions and numismatic enjoyment. What are we going to be selling? Well, we’re starting with stuff that we’ve generally never placed on our website…think raw Standing Liberty Quarter books, random acquisitions from collections, 2026 coin issues. But what else will we have? We’ll have access to the vault of DLRC’s inventory, so we’ll be pulling out whatever is of interest to show that we can sell outright along with some special items that we’ve placed in the long-term storage boxes at DLRC. DGS sample slabs? Maybe! CACG Founders Label coins with John Brush’s autograph? Yes…these embarrassingly exist, but none have ever sold because I immediately regretted doing them. Numismatic books? Yes. We’ll sell some of the extra pieces from our numismatic library. Will we be selling surprise sets or random boxes? No. That’s not our style. But we do want to add some numismatic education in our shows and we’ll have a lot of fun with it. So, if you’re bored on Wednesday night and want to see something that could approach a total trainwreck in our Pilot episode 1…feel free to check it out here. We’ll be live from 4-9pm EST and would love to have you hang out with us. We’ll be ordering some pizza to go along with the coins, so if snacks and Sesquincentennial Halves are your thing, join us!

Until then, check out this week's selection! We leaned into the rare, the weird, and the seasonally appropriate!

Numismatically Yours,
John Brush and Your Friends at DLRC

[Ed. Note: The author and those also participating in the livestreams, dear reader, are people I spend an outsized portion of my waking hours with, day in and day out. Their ability to entertain as well as rattle off numismatic facts blitzkrieg-style still surprises me. They're also total goofballs in the right setting. This should be very fun.]
