Coins We Love: Fresh Finds, Hot Auctions, and the FUN Show!
Last summer, the rare coin market was spurred by gold and silver prices making significant advances. This year, metal prices have pulled back and are currently running in a steady, tight range. Yet, we are experiencing a strong increase in auction participation and sell-through percentage. In fact, our last two Sunday Sales recorded our highest grossing auctions of 2026! The number of new collectors searching for coins has been increasing since the beginning of the year, and we are now struggling to feed the weekly demand. While this is a great problem to have, it does stretch our resources during what has traditionally been a slower time period. If this is the new reality (Hot Summer/Hot Coin Market), we’ll take it! We will have to adjust to process more coins in a faster fashion to continue to offer our collector base the best selection and quality possible in the market.
On the flip side, if you have a collection or singles to sell, this is a great time to showcase them in one of our weekly sales. Speaking of booming auctions, we wanted to take this opportunity to highlight a fascinating group of coins CLOSING TONIGHT! This Red Carpet Rarities Auction features The Old Holder Collection, a group of early holders from PCGS, NGC, and ANACS. Known for their conservative grading and their short production timeline, old holders are wildly popular across the numismatic community! It is very rare to find sequentially numbered Old Green Holders, as many were cracked, sold, or separated, let alone 21. These coins are housed in Gen 3 holders and were graded between 1990 and 1993. They were submitted together, stored away for at least 33 years, and found their way into our curated RCR auction! These pieces are as fresh as they come and provide a fascinating historical opportunity.
