Coins We Love: What’s Staying? What’s Going? What’s Next?
Questions of the Week:
Q: Is the core of the Hansen Collection for sale?
A: No. Not the core. Are we selling duplicates? Yes. We’ve upgraded a number of coins in the collection as we go and these are what we’re selling on a regular basis. This includes tonight’s RCR Sale of Seated Liberty Proof Half Dollars. These are great coins mind you! And they were all in the primary collection at some point, but now there are higher grade examples there.
Q: What’s next for the DLH Collection?
A: We’ve finished the majority of the crossover project to CACG for the core collection and have retired the PCGS Registry Sets, while moving them to the CACG Registry.
Q: Are you still buying coins for the collection?
A: Absolutely! When there’s a CAC-graded or CAC-stickered coin available as an upgrade, we are certainly considering them for the collection. Feel free to offer them directly to us!
Q: What’s the goal for the collection?
A: The initial goal was to complete the “Eliasberg Set” of circulation strike US coins according to the PCGS Registry. We tended to deviate from that when special coins and sets were offered, thus ending up with a number of proof sets, some historic rarities, and a variety of other items (and varieties!) that were interesting. The initial goal is complete (except for the 1822 $5), and we’re still keeping our eyes open.
Q: What’s going on at DLRC?
A: We’ve mostly recovered from the ANA show by now, but there’s still a mountain of things to tackle. We had to cancel on the Long beach show this week as we were just too far behind, but we’ll be planning some buying trips in the near future as well as visiting clients who have collections or coins they are looking to consign.
Q: What’s your next major show you’ll be set up at?
A: PCGS Invitiational: Philadelphia in October and then November Baltimore and PCGS Las Vegas.
Q: What’s next on the horizon?
A: A nap. And cleaning up the office. For those of you in the know, we’ve been in some form of a construction phase in our building for 4 years. We’re basically done now. Finally. And now we have to clean up some of our mess and improve the processes we have throughout the office. We’ve made a LOT of progress, but we have a little more to go. Our goal was for the March 2026 ANA show here in Virginia Beach and we’ve accomplished that. So maybe now we move on to our storefront??? Ask me again in 6 months!
Thanks for checking in with us at DLRC. Please enjoy this week’s Coins We Love!
