Coins We Love: Back in Baltimore

The wholesale coin market is incredibly active these days. The FUN Show kicked off the year with a lot of activity which stayed steady through the Atlanta ANA Show. Now, we find ourselves back in Baltimore and the first 2 days have proven quite successful. The pre-show trading rooms open on Wednesday for dealers and that’s the first real day of activity. But there were buyers coming in on Saturday and Sunday in search of “first shot”. That happens at the FUN and ANA shows, but it was quite surprising for the Baltimore Show. We didn’t follow suit as the office has been so busy lately, but we made our way up Tuesday evening and hit the ground running. We met with six important customers by dividing and conquering and then hit the trading room on Wednesday. So far, the buying has been “fine” but nothing to write home about. The sales have been quite good, which has certainly kept us busy. We’ll keep moving through the show in search of fresh deals and in attempts to sell a few of the pieces we brought, but overall, I have to say that the action is continuing and there doesn’t seem to be anything slowing down the numismatic train.
Back in the office there are thousands of coins flowing through the system right now. The highlights move a little bit faster (by design), but overall, it’s just a good sign that coins are coming and going. It seems to be a real time of growth in the coin industry, so we’re hoping that the trend continues in the coming months and we’ll be excited to see where it takes us…hop aboard!
Numismatically Yours,
John Brush
