Coins We Love: Did Someone Flip the Switch on Thursday?
Better late than never! We apologize for the late CWL message, but we have been thoroughly tied up with the show (in a good way)!
Yes, it’s Baltimore week. And, while it’s kind of like Groundhog Day when you wake up here, there’s always some little thing that’s a little different.
We’ve been active buying and selling! On Wednesday we visited customers and were in our trading room, but it was boring. There were some coins to buy and we found enough to make it worthwhile, but there was absolutely nothing to be excited about. Even though we were exhausted at the end of the day, it didn’t feel like it was worthwhile. The show opened on Thursday, and about 10 minutes into setup things started moving. As I write this, it’s 4 pm I realize that several of us haven’t left the table, our lunch came in between speaking with customers, and we’ve bought a ton and sold far more than we expected for the entire show. It’s too early to really analyze what this means, but I’ll suffice it to say that this is the best Baltimore that we’ve had in a year.
As always, the folks at Whitman have put together the best event of the numismatic year as far as organization goes and we sure hope that Friday brings more of the same!
Sorry for the short message this week, but we’ll try to come back with more in next week’s edition when we’ve had a few minutes to catch our breath!
Numismatically Yours,
John Brush and Your Friends at DLRC
